Table Makeover Ideas?
I am buying this table (just the table..I've yet to find the perfect chairs).
I would LOVE to paint it yellow...but I have a feeling that would be WAAAY to bright for my little area where the table belongs SO I'm thinking just staining it dark. What do you all think?!
Options:
Stain all of the table dark?
Stain just the top dark and paint the bottom?
Paint all of the table?

Here is where said table will be going and what most of my decor looks like. Ignore the funky placement of all those things, like the lanterns they will be going some where else just where I had a place to sit them for now. PLEASE ignore all my junk. I've been going through boxes and we have loooots of boxes, looots of junk, and I'm a hoarder! Little table under the window will be going downstairs so the table gets all the room in that little area. Ugh.

You could still do yellow. I would probably just apply a stain on the yellow too to dirty it up a bit. That way it's not so in your face.
Another option is to do the yellow with or without stain on the bottom and then a darker color on the top. One of my friends here actually just painted the top of her table in chalkboard paint. It's really cool because she and her husband can leave each other notes on it and the kids play games or work on schoolwork while they're waiting on supper.

I would stain it to match your cabinets. I think yellow (for me) is a hard color. You have to get it dead on or else it's going to either look like a sunshine or like mustard.
Re: Table Makeover Ideas?
Yea. If I did paint it yellow it would be a pale yellow I think so no sunshine or mustard lol! John says "Ugh not yellow just stain it!" so I'll probably go with just stain!

I'd either go darker or leave it the same. It's gorgeous, it just needs some lovin. A glossy topcoat and some Pledge.

Re: Table Makeover Ideas?
Just got back from picking up the table.
It is a pretty beat up BUT it will stand down and stain beautifully!
I think yellow and a dark top would be awesome! I'm scared I'll paint it though and not like it....then it would be a pain in the butt trying to sand down and restain. I think first I'll start with staining it all...then if I decided I don't like that I'll paint part of it. Eeee. I'm so excited to fix it up and get it in my house!
Best part:
It came with a leaf!
(Love how the lady just failed to mention that part!)

Can't wait to see the finished project! We had a table and chairs like that when I was growing up.
